Italy is where so many destination weddings happen, and it is easy to see why: long dinners under the olive trees, villas on the lakes, castles in the hills and that warm evening light that makes everybody look good. I live in Slovenia, an hour from the Italian border, so Friuli, the Veneto and Lake Garda are almost on my doorstep, and Tuscany, Lake Como, Puglia and the Amalfi Coast are a short trip.

I have photographed weddings on Isola del Garda and in the Tuscan countryside, and a pre-wedding session at Miramare Castle in Trieste. Whether you are planning a weekend in a Tuscan borgo or an intimate ceremony on a lake, I photograph the day as it happens: the emotion, your people and the place.

How I photograph your day

Italian weddings often run late and the best light comes after the aperitivo, so I plan portraits around golden hour and keep the rest of the day relaxed. I arrive the day before to walk the venue in the same light as your wedding, and I am happy to work with your planner on the timeline.

Yes. I photograph weddings everywhere in Italy, from Friuli and Lake Garda to Tuscany, Lake Como, Puglia and the Amalfi Coast. Travel and my stay are one flat fee of €550, anywhere in Italy.

Yes. Many Italian weddings are three-day celebrations, so my Dolce Vita collection covers the welcome evening, the wedding day and the farewell brunch as one story.

I have put together a guide to Italian venues I know or love, from castles in Friuli to masserie in Puglia. If your venue is new to me, I visit it the day before the wedding.
